third week

Assalamualaikum. Hello people!
New week, new story and new life.
Today our class study about writing.
 Miss Zu teaches us about how to write an introduction in essay.
 We create an introduction to get the readers’ attention, set tone of the fully essay and make a contrast with the reader. In introduction, we must have three elements which is hook, transition and thesis statement.
 The hook is the beginning when we write an introduction. The hook is the phrase that used to attract people to read the essay.
 The transition is the phrase that used to connect the hook and the thesis statement.
In thesis statement, we must write the main idea for the topic to make readers know what is the essay talking about.
There are seven kind of hook which is
 - personal examples -
- quotations -
- facts or statistics –
- rhetorical questions –
 - current events -
 - contrast to the thesis statement -
- definition -
The personal examples must be strong and dramatic incidents to use. While you can make up the personal experience, be careful that it sounds ridiculuos.
When you use quotations, the content should be dramatic, emotionally appealing, surprising and humorous. Quote does not have to be from the famous person, it just needs to be relevant to thesis statement. If you use the quote from yours, it can be accept too.
 Let’s continue to the facts or statistics. It must be startling or unusual. It also should be from an original source.
Next, using the rhetorical questions. The question was not for you and the reader to answer it but the question is for readers to thinks about it.
 For the current events, the event must be recent, important and it should be made public for example newspaper, television, radio and so on.
 The other hook is using contrast to the thesis statement. It should be in direct contrast to the thesis statement and it must to prove an expert wrong about the topic.
Lastly, by using the definition. We should directly give the definition about our topic and explain briefly.
After our lecturer has explain it, she divided us into seven groups, two groups will be four members and the rest of the group will only have three members. Each group must write an introduction using the seven type hook.
My group got a contrast to the thesis statement topic. It is a quite harder to do this introduction but we had tried the best.

READING COMPREHENSION.
Yupppp. Today, we were learning a reading comprehension.
 First of all, you must know the technique that you will choose depend on the purpose of reading.
 Do u know what is skimming? Ya! I just got know what is skimming. When Miss Zu told us about skimming, everyone do not know and we were blur. Haha.
Skimming is the process of quickly identify the main ideas. There are a few tips for better skimming, which is read the document or report quickly, only the main point; read the first and the last paragraphs using headings, summaries; read the headings, sub-headings and illustrations; when seeking a specific information, consider reading the first sentence of each paragraph; and take note of any italicised or boldfaces word or phrases. Skimming works well for finding dates as well as names of people and places. It is also useful for reviewing graphs, tables and charts.
Let’s we continue to the scanning.
What is the scanning? Scanning is a reading skill used to find specific information quickly. There are a few tips for better scanning which is look for the author’s use of organisers such as numbers, letters, steps or sequence such as first, second or next; selectively read and skip through sections of the passage; use headings any other aids that will help you identify which section might contain the information you are looking for; try to anticipate how the answer will appear and what clues you are looking for; look for words that are boldfaced, italicised or in a different font size, style or colour; do not read everything in detail, look for key words or concentrate on certain parts; during examination, you will focus your attention on the relevant parts depending on the questions asked; and you can scan web pages on the Internet to find specific information.
 Contextual reference.
There are four type of context clue. There are rewording the main word, giving its synonym, giving its antonym and giving details.
After Miss Zu introduce to all about contextual reference, she divides us into five groups. Then, Miss Zu gives us exercise about the reference word. Finally, we discuss the answer. That’s all. Thank you J

second week!!

assalamualaikum people.
As usually, when Miss Zu enter to the class, she asks us to recite al-fatihah.
Firstly, she told us that we have to separate in groups and one-by-one group should present and teach about grammar to others. We had do this presentation last sem but she wanted to us to do it again! This is because she said that our class are very “sucks” in grammar (including me). Haha. but nevermind, I love to do presentation and I will do the best for my presentation’s group. insyaAllah.
Everyone in my class had two people in a group but me, seha and faa be in one group. This is because our class have 25 students. So that, everyone must be 2 students in one group but not to us. The tasks that we should present later is about “future continuous and future simple.” Every Friday, we will present 2 topic for grammar lesson.
So people, please wish me luck for this presentation ya!!
 After that, she wrote something on the white board. She wrote “that’s shocking!” There is really shocking me. I am never aspect what she wants us to do. She wants us to write 4 facts about our self that people do not know and can make people said “whoaaa. That is really shocking me!” she give us 10 minutes to write about that. I thought she wants us to read what we are write in front of the class but she wants us to foalt that paper and make it as aeroplane origami. Hahaha. You know what? I am forgotten how to make that because I am used to make it when I am kids. Now I am already teenagers.
But finally I can make it nicely. I am really proud of myself. Hahaha. I am forgot to take a picture of that aeroplane origami that made by myself. That was really sad. Never mind. Maybe after this, I will make that aeroplane origami again!
After we make that aeroplane origami, she asks us to fly that paper to the friends and one of us should take one. We should not take aeroplane origami that belong to us. We should take a friend’s. Then, Miss Zu call a name to read the paper in front of the class. After that, the second people who had to read that paper must recall one name to read their friend’s.
You know what? I’m the second one who must read the facts. The first name that Miss Zu call is Hashima. She can guess that paper is mine. This is because she knew my handwriting and the facts that I had wrote. What am I wrote on that paper? Upsss. I can’t tell the others because that was so embarrassing me. So, let it be secret okay bebehhh.
Okay. The aeroplane origami that I get was belonging to Saifuddin. Actually, there is no one can get guess the paper belongs to. I am also cannot get make sure who is that person. At the last, Saifudin  confess his self. You want to know what saifudin wrote on his paper? Nahhh there is!

assalamualaikum people.
Today we will have to do an essay. Yes!! Essay day! You know what? When Miss Zu talked about “essay”. My face change from
J to L
Not only me who had change that face but my friends also. That said that, “huhhhh essay” “what?? Essay”
Haha. That was really funny!
Miss Zu said that we should love essay because when we do an essay, we can improve our English.
She introduce our self about how to practise write an essay. There are:
1.   Free writing
2.   Quick writing
3.   Continuous writing
About free writing?
It is something that we should write everything and anything that come out from our mind. There is no specific topic to write about. Just write spontaneous.
I think I love this because we should not to think about something that we do not know. She gave us 5 minutes to wrote anything by what we fell and what we think on that morning. After that, we should crumpled that paper and throw it away to friends. One of the people should take one and keep it in our portfolio. Actually, there is no one knew who the paper’s belonging to because we didn’t wrote our name on that paper.


I am not sure who is the paper that I get but I guess the paper is Adli’s. How come I know? Errrr I just guess it. Hehe.
Okay. For the second, she asks us to do a quick writing.
It is about someone give us a topic and we have to write it non-stop.
I am not too excited to do this because me so lazy to think about the fact or something that I didn’t know.
Miss Zu give us a topic “facebooking and blogging” and she give us 10 minutes to wrote that. I just wrote anything that I know about facebook and blog.
For thirdly is continuous writing. This is about we should write an essay with people. It’s sound something different right? Ahha! That’s it! We should separate in a group. Five persons in one group. She give us a topic…
“When Hantu’s Kak Limah meet Justin Bieber”
It’s sound like interesting!
Every person in a group should write an essay about this person for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, the person should pass that paper to the other group member and the last person should make a conclusion for that story.
It was really fun! Every group had their own creativity on how they make people laugh when they read their essay.

What I am learn today is we should practice on how to write an essay to make our essay better than before this.

Today is a grammar day!
I should pay more attention to the class because I have to learn more more more and more about the grammar because my “grammar is very “sucks!” hahahaha
Okay. For the first gammar is about nouns that was presenting by Fatin Najihah and Nur Nadhirah.
I understand what they were trying to talk about.
For the second grammar is about a verbs that was presenting by Nur Syaziella and Najwa Adlina

First week



Assalamualaikum people. I created this blog just to talk about what had happened in the BEL 260 class, what we had studied, what was my feeling when I attended the class, and a lot more.Actually, I'm not that good in English subject. English subject is one of my weakest subject since primary school. I've tried to improve my language by reading English's novels but still there’s no progression because I can't understand some of the words in the novels.Okay. done with the introduction.Now, let's read my story about the class BEL 260.

assalamualaikum people!

 I'm so nervous today because this is my first class of BEL 260. I’ve always think who is my lecturer, how did she/ he looks alike, how will she/ he teach us and how can I accept the lessons. I just pray hopefully everything will be fine. InsyaAllah.When she came into our class, okay. She is a FEMALE. I never expected my BEL 260 lecturer will be very talkative but I do love her styles. The way she dresses up and the way she talks. She has a lot of ideas to talk about. She is very confident when she talks in front of the students. I wish I can be like her!! yuppp. I must!What did we learnt in this class?In the first class, she just introduced the topic that we have to learn in BEL 260. It’s quiet different from BEL 120 but still have a similar between these two subjects.After that, she introduced herself as Miss Zuraidah Binti Sumery. We just call her Miss Zu. There are certain things that she asked us to do. Firstly, she said she needs a file upsss not a “file” but portfolio. I didn’t know the differences between “file” and portfolio actually, but she said portfolio is a file that we have to arrange properly and nicely the papers that she will give to us and separate them according to their types. It is like for grammar; one part, for comprehension; one part. The file’s colour that she wanted us to use is green colour. Secondly, she asked us to bring a dictionary to the class. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a manual or digital dictionary. What most important is, the dictionary is for English to English words! And the last one is, she asked us to create this blog. Before we ended the class, she said that she had a game for us during the next class. Did you want to know what is the game? Okay. Let’s proceed to the next post! Check it out!

assalamualaikum people!

 Second day!!!Okay. First thing that Miss Zu wanted us to do is switch on the computer in the lab and start editting the blog. She asked us to create, givea title, and edit the blog.After that, she told us to go to the outside of the class. Everyone was shocked. What did she wants us to do? Ahhaaa.That’s it!She asked us to separate into two groups and make a the circle.One group for the outer circle and for the second one made a circle inside the big circle. The students who are in the inner circle must turn back and face the student who are in the outer circle. We have to look at each other. I never expected that she wants us to do the ice breaking session between us.It was very surprising! We had to talk to  each other and introduce ourselves to our partner.After 1 minute, we will change the partner and having a talk with different partner. Heyyy. It was great people! I can speak a little bit with them. Even my pronunciation is not too good but I tried my best to speak in English. After we finished round the circle, Miss told us to stop.That’s all for today!The lesson that I can learn from today’s class is we should try to speak in English with our friends. We don’t have to feel ashamed if the grammar we used is wrong. We can correct it afterwards.

assalamualaikum people!

 Hello people.This is my third day. What are we going to do is we are given a task. Miss Zu asks us to pair each other. We have to introduce a little bit about our partner. The task is we should give four facts about our partner to others where there is one of the facts must “auta”. It is really fun game actually. If the students get know where is the “auta” fact, they can get extra marks for that. I have tried to guess which one of the facts is an auta. But I just get guess one auta. ouhhh pity me. haha.But it's okay. Atleast  I have tried to guess it.That’s all for today.
